Going to the family dentist for the first time is a big step in your child’s life. Knowing this, you want to help them get ready for their appointment.

Today, we are sharing some tips for you regarding your child’s first dental visit. Take a moment to ready through them. Then, call Davenport Dental Group at  956-242-6745 for our Junction Drive office or 956-517-2695 for our Winfield office.

Make Sure Your Child Is Rested

We welcome children as young as 3 years old at our practice. Make your appointment at a time they are usually alert and awake. You don’t want to make an appointment near their regular nap time, when they may be more fussy.

Don’t Bring a Hungry Child

You don’t want your child to be worried about their tummy when they are sitting in a dental chair. Try to eat reasonably close to their appointment, so they are less likely to be distracted by hunger.

Do a Pretend Dental Visit at Home

We do all we can to make your child feel at ease. That includes trying to make their first visit to our office fun. You can show them what to expect by “playing dentist” at home. This can give your child an idea of what could happen.

Of course, we also welcome you to ask us any questions you may have about our approach to pediatric dental care.
