Maybe you believe fixing cosmetic problems with your teeth is unnecessary — even vain or superficial. Maybe you assume you can’t afford it, or just think it’s a waste of money.
But think again. If you are embarrassed or unhappy with how you look, that affects how you live your life. It may cause you to avoid social situations altogether and thereby miss out on friendships and opportunities. When you do meet people — whether at a party, on a date, or in a job interview — your lack of confidence may affect how they perceive you. This translates into real consequences in terms of your relationships, overall happiness, and even your paycheck.

How Cosmetic Dentistry Can Help
The field of cosmetic dentistry encompasses a variety of procedures designed to improve the appearance of your teeth. At Davenport Dental Group, we can turn cracked, chipped, worn-down, discolored, and even crooked or misaligned smiles into showstopping grins. Here are the services we have available:
We offer two types of professional teeth whitening: in-office treatment and a take-home kit. The in-office treatment is the quickest way to a bright smile — after four 15-minute applications of our powerful whitening gel, you are good to go and dazzle the world. Our take-home treatment allows you to whiten your teeth in your own home over the course of a few weeks. We provide mouthguard-like trays custom fit to your teeth to ensure even coverage of the whitening agent, which is more effective than over-the-counter products. Drugstore whitening kits use less active ingredient than our professional-strength treatments, so they simply don’t work as well (if at all)!
Teeth Contouring is a subtle procedure that can help if you think your teeth are too long or a bit rough around the edges. One of our doctors will carefully and strategically remove a bit of enamel from the ends of the teeth to shorten them or just make them appear smoother and more balanced. Teeth contouring is relatively painless — no more uncomfortable than getting a filling.
Tooth Bonding utilizes a tooth-colored composite resin (similar to the material used in composite fillings) to cover unsightly stains, chips, and blemishes. We can even use the technique to fill gaps, hide minor alignment issues, and change the length or shape of a tooth! The procedure is simple: first the tooth is cleaned and prepared, then the durable composite material is added and sculpted. It is hardened with a special light, then polished to make it smile-ready. It’s like having a beautiful new tooth, but at a relatively low cost and with little time investment necessary.
Dental veneers are exceedingly thin, shell-like coverings that are bonded to the front of the teeth. They are truly transformative, instantly covering blemishes and stains, hiding gaps and small alignment problems, and giving you a beautiful, brand-new smile. At Davenport Dental Group, we offer more than one type of veneer. Traditional porcelain veneers are designed to be permanent. Before we place them, we must prepare your teeth by removing a thin layer of enamel. We also offer no-prep veneers. These may be temporary and you won’t have to have any enamel removed from your teeth before placement.
ClearCorrect is a therapy that’s extremely effective for mild to moderate orthodontic issues, including crooked, crowded, and misaligned teeth. Similar to Invisalign, it uses a series of precision custom-made clear plastic aligners to gradually move the teeth into position. Treatment typically takes about a year. The aligners are removable for eating and cleaning, and are virtually invisible when worn. Unlike Invisalign, ClearCorrect aligners are manufactured not overseas, but right here in Texas.
Any one of our cosmetic dentistry procedures may be done on its own or in combination with others for a full smile makeover.
