A first dental visit can be a little bit scary for children, so it is normal for them to be scared, and it's something that we deal with all the time. We do have different methods to make them feel comfortable. So, we talk about things in a different way. But you can expect to go home knowing what their routine should be like, how often they should be brushing their teeth, and what we can do to prevent cavities as far as diet. So, our goal is to have children be comfortable coming to the office where we can set them on a path to have a beautiful smile for life.
Only 6 percent of dentists in the U.S. have the honor of a fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry – and Dr. Dick Davenport is one of them. That’s the world-class care your children deserve, and we have a welcoming staff and office at two locations to make sure your kids feel comfortable.
Give Your Children Age-Appropriate Dental Care
Even if you’re not a first-time parent, you may wonder when a child first goes to the dentist. We want to see your child for their own visit when they’re 3 years old, but we encourage you to bring them with you to a few appointments so they can be comfortable with our office. The cornerstone of our family dentistry approach is developing relationships with the whole gang!
During your child’s appointment, they’ll be introduced to some of our processes and features:
- Simple dental exam and cleaning by a hygienist
- Digital X-rays if your child seems ready
- A conversation with one of our kid-friendly dentists
- A sticker reward for behaving and being brave
- Cartoons on TV the entire time
Start Your Children On A Path To Healthy Smiles
Not all children reach developmental milestones at the same age, so it’s important to bring your child in at least every six months so that we can monitor their progress and oral health. And since we’re a family practice, we’ll continue providing great dental care for life.
If you have a little one who is at least 3 years old, it’s time to schedule your child’s first dental visit at Davenport Dental Group. We offer two convenient locations for you: you can call our Junction Drive office at 956-242-6745 or our Winfield location at 956-517-2695.
