Yeah I had some fillings removed. I had one small cavity after removing one and they cleaned it out right away. But these fillings were probably 20 years old and so it was time to get them replaced. So it's worked out well so far. I didn't have to come back for any adjustments which, if you've had fillings done in the past, sometimes you gotta go back for adjustments because your bite is off or you're having some pain in there. I didn't have to do that. My bite's been great. I was having problems before that actually and so with ... having trouble keeping my teeth clean because it was areas in there that food was getting caught up on. And I'm very conscientious about my teeth and my breath so they were able to fix that and I appreciate that.
What's really outstanding, and I'll say this and tell them, I'm very honest. If I didn't like something I'd say it. But the customer service is just outstanding. Everybody remembers you by name, which to me is outstanding because they have so man customers come in. But they explain to you, especially the billing process, what your insurance covers. And they tell you exactly how it is and there's no ... I never had any hidden fees that I wasn't happy with, or any hidden fees period. So I like that too, by the way.
Why You Might Need A Tooth Filling
Tooth fillings are needed when a cavity occurs. A cavity is a small area of decay in the tooth. We can use special cavity detecting techniques to locate tiny cavities and fill them before they become larger areas of decay. Larger areas of decay require larger restorations, such as a crown. To prevent the need for more expensive restorations, have a cavity filled while it is still small.

Amalgam Vs. Composite Resin Fillings
As far as the filling itself goes, there are a couple different options. While the traditional material used for tooth fillings is amalgam, we primarily use composite resin fillings here in our Laredo, TX dental office. Amalgam (metal) fillings are strong but unsightly, and some people have allergies to the metal. Composite fillings offer a still durable but aesthetically appealing and allergen-free alternative.
We use composite tooth fillings 99% of the time. Because they are tooth colored, they blend right in with your natural smile. If you have been dreading getting a filling because of the way it will look, you don’t have to worry. Our composite resin fillings will repair your cavity as well as preserve the natural appearance of your smile.
How A Tooth Filling Is Placed
Composite fillings are placed by first cleaning the decayed material from the cavity. We then flow in the composite material and shape it to fit the cavity. Next, we harden the material using a special light and finally polish it to perfection. This process is fairly quick and painless, and it produces excellent results.
How To Prevent Cavities
To prevent the need for fillings in the future, we offer a variety of preventive dental services. These services are designed to protect your teeth against decay-causing substances. We offer dental sealants, which are painted onto your teeth and act as a barrier between the surface of your tooth and bacteria. We also offer nutritional counseling so that you can learn more about what you should be feeding your family to help prevent dental problems.
